Pakistan's Rs.10 commemorative coin on China's 60th anniversary: To express the solidarity and unity with the Peoples Republic of China on historic occasion of 60th anniversary of its founding on 01 October 2009, The Government of Pakistan has decided to issue 10 rupees commemorative coin in the quantity of 100,000 (One hundred thousand) pieces from State Bank of Pakistan, through SBP banking services corporation (Bank) w.e.f October 2009, according to a statement of Finance Division (Internal Finance Wing). Highlighting the dimension, design and composition of the coin, the statement said that denomination of the coin will be Rs.10, metal composition will be Cupro-Nickel, copper 75 percent, Nickel 25 percent with white colour. The shape, dimension and design of the coin will be round with serration on the edge and a diameter of 27.25 grams. About obverse, it said that the waxing crescent moon and a five pointed star facing North-West in rising position, is in the center on the obverse side of the coin. Along with periphery on the top of the crescent star is inscribed in wording Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Urdu script. Below the crescent and at the top springs of wheat with arms curved upward, there is the year of issuance 2009. The face value of the coin in numeral “10” in bold letters and Rupee in Urdu script are written on the right and left sides of the crescent star respectively. A circle of sixty small beads is all along the edge of the coin. About Reverse, in the center of the reverse of the coin bears flags of the both countries, showing hand shaking and inscribed wording “Sixty years celebrations of the Independence of People's Republic of China" at the upper and “Pak-Cheen dosti Zindabad” meaning “Longlive Pak-China friendship” at the lower side in Urdu script along with the periphery. On the left and right sides insignia, the year of P.R. China establishment and year of its 60th anniversary respectively are in numeral wording inscribed. A circle of sixty small beads is all along the edge of the coin. The existing Rs.10 banknotes will continue to the legal tender and will remain in circulation along with Rs.10 coins. The remedy allowed in the making thereof shall not be exceeding 1/40th by weight.
